Shopping in Sendai

After an interesting night of sleep I awoke for the second time to the delicious smell of eggs and bacon. Eric was in the kitchen cooking us breakfast and although the bacon was more like ham it was so delicious. I love breakfast.

After the four of us dined on eggs, bacon and giant pieces of toast we got ready to head out. The shower was also glorious, finally rinsing away the travel grime. Once everyone was showered and dressed we headed out to the Shiroishi Castle which is right in Eric's backyard.

The castle was nice. The inside was all covered up due to renovations but it was still a pretty cool place to be. Climbing to the top level was scary but the descent was even more terrifying. The stairs were nearly like a ladder and navigating hard wood floors or steps in your socks, as I know from first hand experience nearly dying in my parents house from wiping out, that it can be a dangerous feat.

We made it up to the top and back down in one piece then stopped to take pictures amongst the falling cherry blossom leaves. Afterwards we headed into Sendai.

Sendai is a legit city compared to Shiroishi. We had super spicy Thai food buffet then headed to the shopping area. There were so many stores, arcades, and pachinko parlors. There were even Japanese school girls collecting money like a fundraiser outside one of the stores. I wanted so badly for Jordan to give them some money so I could see the chaos (and video tape it) that would erupt but we didn't see them on our way back to the train station. We did stop at Yodoba, the Japanese version of Best Buy, and it was freakin amazing.

There was so many shiny things. I got to play with a Cintiq tablet for the first time (need to buy it ASAP now) and see all the crazy iPhone accessories. On the lower level were the toys and if we didn't have 5 more cities/places to go I would have bought everything. We did find something called nano blocks which is like Lego shrunk down to almost impossible size. I got "big draft beer" and a castle, Jordan got Tokyo Tower with a light up base, and Eric and Denise got a meerkat family and a temple. They built the meerkats when we got back and although it was difficult it was still perhaps one of the cutest things I've seen made from Lego style blocks.
