The day that Wow Air announced they would start flights from the United States to Europe at a discount I literally jumped on it. On a whim I purchased a ticket one year in the future, to Copenhagen, for a long weekend (Friday to Monday). Luckily for me I was able to get it at a great price and James decided to join me.
Now one year since that fateful day where I said why not? I find myself sitting in the airport in Boston, waiting to see what is in store for the next two days.
I arrived in Boston early this morning and hit the ground running. With five hours to kill I thought why not try and do the most Boston things I could think of.
I looked up where to find good food and a good dessert then found myself on the Freedom Trail, in the middle of a Tropicana event, at the grand opening of a Uniqlo, watching a guy juggle knives while balancing at the top of a tall pole, and walking through the most enormous fruit market I've ever seen all before lunch.
My original intention was to go to the oldest restaurant in America (The Oyster House) but there was a wait so I headed next door to the oldest tavern in America, the Bell in Hand Tavern. I got a great blueberry beer, clam chowder, and a lobster roll.
Admittedly my eyes were bigger then my stomach but I would not be deterred from continuing my journey north to Mike's Pastry in Little Italy.
I was worried with the long line that I would never get to order one (or four) of their specialty cannoli. It went surprisingly quick and with my Oreo, chocolate chip, crackle, and pecan cannolis in hand, plus a black and white cookie for James, I started the walk to the subway to get to the airport.
Now we're off to Copenhagen! (With a quick stop in Icelenad first)
